A recent review from Deidra of Clean Bodies, Green Planet: http://cleanbodiesgreenplanet.blogspot.com/2011/06/mylipcandy.html
Tamika Hall, founder of MyLipCandy kindly sent me 2 of their lip balms to review. I received one sweet tube in Rockin Rootbeer and one sassy tin in Chocolate Cake. The tubes retail for $2.99 and the tins for $3.99. They offer discounts when you buy multiples.
About the Founder: (taken from website) "Tamika Hall created MyLipCandy out of sheer desperation. There was a period of about two years where her lips became so chapped and swollen that it hurt to smile or talk. A few times she even went to the doctor because she knew there just had to be something seriously wrong, only to be told that her lips were just severely chapped.
She realized that she needed to use all natural products on her lips, but didn't want to give up her love for glossy lips. When she finally found a lipgloss that seemed to heal her lips, she was disappointed with the fact that it had a stinky smell. This compelled her to create her own line of natural lip balms. She found the perfect blend of natural products containing Shea Butter & CoCo Butter, flavors, and scent that leaves your lips feeling silky smooth, smelling delicious, and actually has some healing effects."
Ingredients: Ricinus Communis, Seed Oil, Beeswax, Lauryl Laurate, Copernicia Cerifera Wax, Flavor.
From the website: "MyLipCandy is a High-End all natural Lipbalm Collection that was created to leave your lips feeling silky smooth! We use the most natural ingredients available such as soothing oils such as sweet almond oil, shea butter, and CoCo Butter. Our products are ALL Natural, Long Lasting, and are free of paraben preservatives! "
I can definitely relate to Tamika's story. I too, have struggled with chapped lips. I am an avid lip balm user. It is one of my everyday products and I have tried countless different brands both natural and non natural trying to find my holy grail lip balm. Many brands out there are sticky, waxy, creasy, stinky, taste bad or just don't work. Therefore, when I discovered Tamika's website, I practically begged for a chance to try and then review her lip balms. I am happy to report that I am VERY pleased with her lip balms!!
My first impression of these lip balms was that I absolutely loved the scents. They smell exactly like you expect them to. The chocolate cake smells just like chocolate cake and the root beer just like root beer. This was a nice surprise because many lip balms claim to have a certain scent but fall short of the mark. FYI, they don't taste like the scent. :) They do, however, taste sweet, but not overly so and have NO nasty after taste.
I have to confess that I have become addicted to the chocolate cake lip balm. It smells amazing and I find myself reapplying it multiple times throughout the day, not necessarily because I need to reapply, so much as want to refresh the scent on my lips. My kids fight over the Rockin Rootbeer sweet tube and I have to monitor its use or I am afraid that the kids will eat it!! That's just how good it smells.
The lip balms apply very nicely, they are non waxy and non greasy. They are very moisturizing to the lips and give them an healthy, hydrated appearance. So far, my lips are feeling and looking fantastic. I look forward to trying some more flavors and I have just placed an order of lip balms for myself and family.
